The most annoying thing about painting...

The most annoying thing about painting is cleaning brushes...and preparing canvas. Okay, the two most annoying things about painting are cleaning brushes and preparing canvas,...and cleaning pigment off the palette. Darnit! The top three most annoying things about painting are: cleaning brushes, preparing canvas and cleaning pigment off the palette...and finding the best light to not only paint by but also light the subject. Oh bother, I might as well add: finding models (for no money) and the perfect easel (no wobbles, level and adjustable to any height, also for little or no money), disappearing studio space (can't seem to move an elbow without bumping into paintings that don't fit into the dismal storage space I don't seem to have anyway), waiting interminably for oil paint to dry (due to plus-child situation, I avoid siccatives and other quick-drying, highly flammable/noxious solutions). So my ultimate upgrade for the painting experience would be as follows: a much-appreciated-yet-highly-improbable influx of funds would facilitate the acquisition of a north-facing-but-also-southern-light-available studio space with heated storage, an uniquely-blessed-in-the-looks-department assistant who would expertly care for my brushes, palette and canvas-stretching needs while also serving as a creative model (androgyny a plus!), and who would also watch paint dry... oh wait, a big "no kids allowed at this time" on the studio door would take care of the no-noxious-solutions issue...

*Sigh* Back to the drawing board/studio-facsimile...
